August 12th 03 - Area 13 Monthly meeting. Arriving early at the monthly meeting we were met by a raid from the local Healy, Sprite and MG clubs. For more details and pictures click here.

DB2 - DB's
July 19th 03 - Goodwood Sprint. A good day for Area 13. All but one competitor in the V8 standard class was from Area 13. For more details and pictures click here.

Shelsey Startline
July 5th 03 - Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb. The club was invited to have a class. The winner to be decided by handicap. 8 cars were present. For more details and pictures click here.

June 28th 03 - AMOC meeting at Silverstone. A perfect day - beautiful cars, friendly people and gorgous weather For more details and pictures click here.

Pembrey paddock
June 15th 03 - AMOC sprint meeting at Pembrey in South Wales. This exciting circuit was new to the AMOC calender. The Track day on Saturday helped enormously as on Sunday it was straight into the practice sessions. Area 13 were well represented, which should help with points to the Pennine Trophy. John+Willie
January 03 - Annual Prize Giving. Willie Verdon-Smith and John Reed picked up Category Trophies for racing their DB2/4 Mk III's. For more details and pictures click here.

MGA
May 17th 03 - Wiscombe. Despite the rain, we had an enjoyable time at Wiscombe. John and Tony Reed had a good battle with Tony winning. David Taylor and his son Peter, also had a good fight with David winning. John Browning, Richard and David Butler Julian and Denise Bailey-Watts also competed in Astons, although the Bailey-Watts V8 sickened while on the hill. Julian took the Cobra up instead. Willie Verdon-Smith did well in his TR4. Tom Hatfield won his class in his MGA. Martin Smith and family, Karen and Neil and the Stafford twins were also there.
The Boat Race on Sunday was not as well attended as previous years, but we enjoyed the jog down Beer High Street with passers by wondering what we were up to. For more details and pictures click here.

Go kart circuit
March 28th 03 - Area 13 went Go Karting. 30 adults caused merry mayhem at the Salisbury circuit. The children had 20 minutes at the beginning of the evening which they thoroughly enjoyed. For more details and pictures click here.

Astons at evening meeting
Area 13 (North West Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset) meet every 2nd Tuesday of the month at The Fox and Goose, Coombe Bissett (A354). This August summer evening brought out 15 Astons. For more photo's by Andrew Fawkes click here.

Curbrough -waiting to go out
Despite torrential rain at the beginning and end of the day, we managed to get some good racing, and a couple of new records. David Such did the fastest time of day in an Aston. Jonathan Williamson was fastest of the day in a porsche. Jacqui Piper won the ladies handicap and Gordon Riseley the Bob Fowler Trophy for best time in classes 1-7. Wiscombe hillclimb
Not a good weekend for David and Anne - the V8 sustained extensive damage when it made contact with The Gate in the first run of the afternoon. Happier times for others - Willie Verdon Smith won his class in his Mk III. Tony Reed won the handicap in John Reed's Mk III. Denise Bailey-Watts competed for her first time in their V8. Jaqui Piper managed to spin the DB4 at Bunnies Leap - but still picked up Fastest Lady of the Day. For photo's of the day and the 'Boat' race on the Sunday To see who won click here.

Area 13 went Slot Car Racing on April 14th 2002. Certainly different and great fun. 13 of us 'played'. Hannah Reed would have won the 'How many times can I make the car come off the track' trophy - if we had one! Marcus and Bob vied for the highest score. To see who won click here.

Area 13 competed against the MG and the 10/20 Club at Skittles in Poole during March 02. We did not win the team event but Hannah Reed won the score for the highest 'Lady'. To see more photos click here.

The Area 13 Christmas Dinner - December 2001. Willie Verdon-Smith won the annual trophy for contributing most to the area during the year. To see who else was enjoying themselves, click here.

September 23rd - Curbrough Sprint. 62 cars - astons of all types, lotus, porsche,volvo, triumph, scimitar, westfield, cortina. David Such achieved the fastest time of day in an Aston. Alison Millar got the Ladies Handicap on her first ever outing.

Australian DB6

Charlie Nadin's DB6 from the Outback of Australia - perhaps the most remote Aston? With no Aston dealers nearby, Charlie uses the local Landrover dealer to work on his car.

They had a fab day recently when 25 Astons and Bentleys came to visit Kalgoorlie, 600kms from Perth, to raise money for the Variety Club - a great day was had by all.

The Autumn Concours was held at Hampton Court Palace. 60 astons entered the competition. These events are rightly becoming more and more popular. So much so that more judges are required. If anyone is interested, why not contact the club headquarters and offer your services. As well as the cars entering, there must have been getting on for 100 astons lined up at the other end of the walk by Flowerpot Gate.

The Barn Open Day. An assortment of astons came and went. It was good to see the barn looking more finished than our visit in January. There is obviously a lot more to do getting display cabinets etc out. Adrian Feather who compiles the road test books for each aston model has donated his large assortment of aston related articles. Adrian also donated the book containing the contemporary road tests for the DB2. This was auctioned and raised �45 with competing bids from America and Ireland. Tom May is already starting to work on his 90 miles at a speed of 90 when he is 90 project which will be in four years time.

Silverstone. Almost 50 DB2's came from all over the world for this celebration. The display car park had a wonderful mix of cars - must have been about 70.

Loton Park. A glorious day in this beautiful deer park. David Reed and David Such had a good battle in the V8 class. David Such managed to get down to 64.91, a wonderful achievement. This earnt him the Fastest Time of Day for a Gent driving an Aston. Jacqui Piper won the Fastest Lady of the Day in an Aston award. Gillian Goldsmith in the Lotus 23B managed to beat cars with more power and 40 years younger in an amazing time of 57.99. Colin Kingsman decided to visit the undergrowth in his DB6. The marshalls who pushed him back up the hill were certainly to be praised. Colin won the Best Performance in a Category A Aston.

50+ Aston Martins made a wonderful display car park at Brands Hatch on 29th April 2001. Free tickets were available, as usual, from the AMOC Club. Those who wished, were able to take their car for three laps around the circuit - great fun!
