Area 13 went Slot Car Racing on April 14th 2002. Certainly different and great fun. 13 of us 'played'. Hannah Reed would have won the 'How many times can I make the car come off the track' trophy - if we had one! Marcus and Bob vied for the highest score. To see who won click here. Area 13 competed against the MG and the 10/20 Club at Skittles in Poole during March 02. We did not win the team event but Hannah Reed won the score for the highest 'Lady'. To see more photos click here. The Area 13 Christmas Dinner - December 2001. Willie Verdon-Smith won the annual trophy for contributing most to the area during the year. September 23rd - Curbrough Sprint. 62 cars - astons of all types, lotus, porsche,volvo, triumph, scimitar, westfield, cortina. David Such achieved the fastest time of day in an Aston. Alison Millar got the Ladies Handicap on her first ever outing. Click here for more photos Charlie Nadin's DB6 from the Outback of Australia - perhaps the most remote Aston? With no Aston dealers nearby, Charlie uses the local Landrover dealer to work on his car. They had a fab day recently when 25 Astons and Bentleys came to visit Kalgoorlie, 600kms from Perth, to raise money for the Variety Club - a great day was had by all. September 15th 2001. Goodwood Revival. A wonderful day with many people dressed up in 1950's style. Click here for more photos The Autumn Concours was held at Hampton Court Palace. 60 astons entered the competition. These events are rightly becoming more and more popular. So much so that more judges are required. If anyone is interested, why not contact the club headquarters and offer your services. As well as the cars entering, there must have been getting on for 100 astons lined up at the other end of the walk by Flowerpot Gate. Click here for more photos The Barn Open Day. An assortment of astons came and went. It was good to see the barn looking more finished than our visit in January. There is obviously a lot more to do getting display cabinets etc out. Adrian Feather who compiles the road test books for each aston model has donated his large assortment of aston related articles. Adrian also donated the book containing the contemporary road tests for the DB2. This was auctioned and raised £45 with competing bids from America and Ireland. Tom May is already starting to work on his 90 miles at a speed of 90 when he is 90 project which will be in four years time. Click here for more photos Silverstone. Almost 50 DB2's came from all over the world for this celebration. The display car park had a wonderful mix of cars - must have been about 70. Click here for more photos Loton Park. A glorious day in this beautiful deer park. David Reed and David Such had a good battle in the V8 class. David Such managed to get down to 64.91, a wonderful achievement. This earnt him the Fastest Time of Day for a Gent driving an Aston. Jacqui Piper won the Fastest Lady of the Day in an Aston award. Gillian Goldsmith in the Lotus 23B managed to beat cars with more power and 40 years younger in an amazing time of 57.99. Colin Kingsman decided to visit the undergrowth in his DB6. The marshalls who pushed him back up the hill were certainly to be praised. Colin won the Best Performance in a Category A Aston. Click here for more photos ![]() 50+ Aston Martins made a wonderful display car park at Brands Hatch on 29th April 2001. Free tickets were available, as usual, from the AMOC Club.
