![]() Championship Dinner - November 24th 2007 This year the venue for the Championship Dinner moved to the Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel at Wotton-under-Edge in Gloucestershire.
Linzi Smart had produced her usual wonderful montage of photos covering the year for us to look at during the Taittinger reception. ![]() Tania and Heather Reed with Brendon. ![]() Tony Reed and Trish Bird. ![]() Rita and Bob Pope. ![]() Mike Dowd and David Reed. ![]() Anne and David Reed. Trophies were awarded to, amongst others: ![]() David Reed for coming second in Class A4 in his DB2. ![]() David Taylor for winning Class P3 in his Pre-war Speed Model ![]() Doug Barker for winning the overall UBS Championship trophy. ![]() Davron mechanic Pete Stephens and David Reed celebrating Doug winning Class A1 and the overall Championship and Graham Barker, who along with Doug and Colin Campbell came third in the 50s Sports Car Team Challenge. ![]() The Barker haul of trophies. Jane and Andy Pratt received a special award for all their hard work with competitions over the past 7 seasons. We had a surprise cabaret in what initially appeared to be a singing italian chef, along with a hotel manager and a member of the audience. 3 amazing voices who deservedly received a standing ovation at the end. Dot Browning presented a picture to James Wenyon in appreciation of the UBS sponsorship over the last 7 years. They will be very much missed. ![]() The Sunbeam Tiger brigade came suitably prepared to make sure we knew who they were. After the presentations, everyone took to the floor to dance..... or disappeared to the bar for a more peaceful and cooler atmostphere.
The music finished at 1pm and many moved to the hotel lounge bar. ![]() Tania Reed and Pete Stephens. ![]() ![]() The last survivors who finally went to bed at 4.30, much to the relief of the barman: Helen and Peter Snowdon, Anne and David Reed, Dave Jacks, Ronnie Farmer, Tania Reed + Pete Stephens. Sunday morning: ![]() Breakfast in the Orangery. ![]() Some of us took the opportunity to walk around the grounds which also has a magnificent mixture of trees in its arboretum. ![]() The winning cars were shown outside the front door.
