![]() Donington Park Race Meeting - September 30th 2007 Race 1 - UBS Aston Martin Championship Classic Race was won by Michael Mallock in the N24, Darren McWhirter in the DB4 Zagato was second and Nicholas King in his DB4 3rd. The race was not without incident - the DB4 Zagato had some scuff marks on the front bumper and Jeremy Cooke broke the front light on his DB4 when there was contact with the back of one of the Hipwells. However, David Such managed to get enough points to win class C2 for the year. He celebrated with an .... ice cream The V8's of Clive and Paul Hipwell and Robin Reeds. Race 2 - Pirelli Ferrari Open ws won by Marco Pullen in his 328 GTB, Charlie White was second in his F355 Challenge and Tim Mogridge 3rd in his F355. There was a beautiful array of Ferraris. Race 3 - UBS Aston Martin Championship Historic Race was won by Darren McWhirter in a Lagonda V12 Le Mans, Adrian Beecroft was second in his DBR1 and Donald Flatt was third in his DB2/4. The starting grid - photo by Linzi Smart. ![]() Here is Peter Snowdon interviewing Darren after his win. Davron were thrilled when Doug Barker came 4th overall and won class A1. This gave him the overall Championship win. David Reed had a puncture on the warm up lap, much to his frustration. Peter Snowdon interviewed him to find out what the problem was. Graham and Doug Barker's Feltham cars. Davron has thoroughly enjoyed the year supporting both drivers. Race 4 - Rawles Motorsport Austin Healey Club Championship was won by Marc Campfield in his Frogeye Sprite. Robin Lackford second in another Sprite and David Smithies third in a Healey 3000. Race 5 - Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic was won by Nicky Paul-Barron in a 328 GTB, Gary Culver was second in his 328 GTB with Marco Pullen third in a Mondial 34T. In one of the ferrari races, one car spun down the pit straight, just missing the pit wall. Race 6 - AMOC Intermarque Championship was won by Jackie Cochrane in his Sunbeam Tiger, second was David Smallridge in another Sunbeam Tiger with Thornton Mustard coming third in his Jaguar D Type Replica. Below are some of the Sunbeams which competed during the day. I missed this race as I was sitting in the assembly area waiting to go out but it sounds as though there was a lot of 'contact'. James Wenyon, in his Healey, had a major off on the first lap which, from the results, looks like it may have involved David Such and Martin Brewer. There had to be a re-start. Race 7 - AMOC 50s Sports Car Team Challenge was won by Adrian Beecroft in his DBR1, Drew Cameron was second in an Austin Healey Sebring Sprite and Mike Thorne was third in a Healey 100M. The DBR1 of Adrian Beecroft. This was Anne Reeds first time at Donington, in her second proper race of the season, I moved up from 13th to 8th but then threw it all away with a spin at Redgate which put me back to 11th! However, our 'team' did manage to win the team trophy. Mark Campbell and I were helped by having the winner in our team... The Reed's shared car waiting to go out, with a few people who visited the garage throughout the day. It was great to see so many customers, friends and fellow specialists. Race 8 - Pre-War Sports Car Team Challenge Race Part III was won by John Densham in his Bentley 3/4½, Clive Morley in another Bentley was second and David Brock-Jest in his Lagonda V12 Le Mans came third. ![]() Race 9 - Half Hour Endurance Race was won by Russell Treasure and Graeme Whitehead in the Lotus Exige, Michael Mallock was second in the N24 with Nicholas King and Phil Bennett coming third in the DB4. Jane Pratt, our competitions secretary is leaving after 6 years. Peter Snowdon and Pete Foster presented her with a bouquet of flowers. The Sumbeam Tiger club also presented her with another bouquet to express their thanks. Other cars seen in the paddock: New and old together....
