Brands Hatch - May 7th 2007

AMOC UBS Historic - Mark Baldwin (DB2/4 MkIII) got a good start and was able to get away while Adrian Beecroft (DBR1) and David Reed (DB2) fought for the whole race. David and Adrian changed positions 6 or 7 times throughout the race but Adrian was able to take second place over the line. Nicholas Ruddell (MkIII) had a good scrap with Jon Gross (MkIII) with Doug Barker (DB2/4 MkII) coming up on the rear but fading away as the race went on coming in 2nd in Class A3.

AMOC UBS Aston Martin Classic Championship - on the first lap, the heavens opened. Poor visibility caused a large crash between James Wenyon (DB4), Nicholas King (DB4) and Pete Foster (DB4). Although all the cars suffered extensive damage, thankfully the drivers are all ok. Just to make matters worse, while the cars were in the scrutineering bay following their recovery, James Wenyon had the contents of his glove box taken - how despicable.

Following the restart, Christopher Scragg (V8) went on to win the race. Class winners were: B2 - Robert Rawe (DB4), B3 - Charlie Kemp (DB4), C2 - David Such (V8), C3 - Christopher Scragg. Rikki Cann had been due to run in the invitation race but was not allowed to run - this seemed such a shame when he was not racing for points but would have got another car on the grid.

AMOC 50s Sports Car race amalgamated with the Pre-War Race. 50s Sports Car: David Reed on pole had a dreadful start and dropped back to 7th position. He was able to get back to first after another couple of laps and stayed in the lead to claim the win. Paul Baldwin this time had the scrap with Adrian Beecroft along with an AustinHealey and Ace Bristol. Doug Barker came in 9th overall and winner of F2 with Graham Barker coming in 16th and 2nd in F2.

AMOC Members were able to enjoy the racing from the Stirling Suite. Looking down over the circuit while supping a glass of champagne and chatting the fellow members, what a way to spend the day.
